picture collage

For my college I chose to theme of people in my life, the people who made me the person who I am today. I separated my collage into the categories of family, my boyfriend/ dog, and friends. The family column is friends because they are most important. My dog chase and my boyfriend are next; I titled this column “my boys”. And lastly, I show my friends. All these people have influenced who I am today.

Identity

Your identity is what makes up who you are. I think that your identity can be shaped by different aspects in your life. I believe that identity can be something that you’re born with, something that is shaped by the culture you live in, as well as something that is shaped by personal choices.
Your identity is something that you are born into. When you are born you have no say in who your parents are, what they name you, or where you live. Your name, age, and where you’re from are a big part of your identity that you have no part in choosing. No matter if you don’t like your parents or where you grew up, it’s still a part of your identity. The major foundation of your identity is something that you are just born with.
The culture that you live in also has a big impact on your identity. Growing up you first learn the culture and traditions that are portrayed by family. You can be also shaped by the culture around you, such as the town you live in, the school you go to, and the people you hang out with.
Lastly, your identity can be shaped by personal choice. For example, the people you choose to hang out with can shape who you are. It’s a personal choice to decide where you want to go to college or what major you want to take. You can choose to go to school or work right after high school.  You can choose to move or stay in the town that you grew up in. These are just some examples of the many personal choices you can make that can shape your identity.
Overall your identity can be shaped by many different things. No matter is it’s what you were born with, the culture, or personal choices, your identity is what makes you, you.
